2015 May Primary Wrap-up

Judge Robert Jefferson Breckinridge and Colonel John Kerr Hendrick of Paducah were the “opponents” of JCW Beckham in 1903. Kentucky's Democratic Party switched from a Convention and Delegate style way of electing nominees, to an at-large ballot box primary in 1903, for the first time in Kentucky history. JCW Beckham was the “boy Governor”, and the change happened under his administration. Judge Breckinridge and Colonel Hendrick did everything they could in order to prevent Beckham's name from appearing on the ballot. The Kentucky courts ruled that KDP was allowed to change their way of nominating their nominees (by changing the Convention and delegate style to the primary voting at large style) without interference by the courts. Young v Beckham, Meacham v Beckham. May 9, 1903 was the date of the first Kentucky Democratic primary. On April 26, 1903, John Kerr Hendricks drops out of the race, for unknown reasons. Judge Breckinridge had already dropped out by then.

James Groves Jr, 14; Washington Browder, 19; 2 Black boys killed in Black Power May 1968 Louisville riots; Washington Browder still had his fish sandwich in his hand when found on the sidewalk, shot dead, by a business owner. James Groves Jr. was shot in the back, after supposedly looting.

1987; Steve Beshear (18%) versus John Young Brown Jr. versus Wallace Wilkinson (who hired James Carville); Wallace Wilkinson came up the middle, after Beshear and Brown were throwing mud at each other. Wallace Wilkinson brought KERA and the Kentucky Lottery to Kentucky;

A blowout, sure, but the worst blowout in Kentucky history? Not true.

1951 Kentucky Democratic Primary – Lawrence Wetherby (75%) vs Howell Vincent (22%) vs Jesse NR Cecil (3%); 75 minus 3 = 72 points. 78% minus 21% = 57 points. 72 > 57

Overall, while not a great success, the campaign was decent, esp compared to 1987 Beshear, 2007, 1995, 1991 Gatewood, Nader, Stein, McKinney, Perot, etc. While it was a major blowout, it wasn't the biggest blowout in Kentucky history. We did better than most expected. 13% is what the polls were running. We proved all of them wrong.

We have 38,000 Young Democrats in Kentucky not satisfied with the presumptive nominee chosen by the Governor over a year ago.

2.8 million Kentuckians didn't vote.

1899 Kentucky General Election – The election we should compare #kygub15 to now: 4 way race; Goebel (Conway), Taylor (Bevin), Brown (Curtis), and John G. Blair (Terrill Newman, Gatewood 2).

Books Read By Anne Frank

2 outta 5 Kyians can't read, according to a 1999 Paul Patton Task Force commission report. “44% of Kentuckians struggle with minimal literacy skills, and 37% of the Kentuckians age 25 and older do not have a high school diploma.” http://www.lrc.ky.gov/lrcpubs/rr296.pdf But hey, Kentucky, don't lose heart. Just look at the good side. If 44% of Kentuckians CAN'T read, then that means that 56% of Kentuckians CAN read, so let's look at the positive side. Here's Wendy, a Kentuckian, from Letcher County, who I met the other day:  Many Kentuckians, especially the backwards, racist, and illiterate, love to fuck up their words as bad as they possibly can. “Taters” isn't only stupid... it's childish. Plus, potatoes aren't that great. Potatoes were responsible for killing off a huge Irish population... sure it's one of the world's main basic food staples, but rice, pork, beef, wheat, sugar, etc., are so much more important, and more d

100 Greatest Works Humanity Has Ever Made

A Great Books Canon “To ignore the leaps and bounds we've advanced in the fields of technology and science is to forever play patty-cake to the cavepeople of yesteryear.” Podcast Explanation for the first few Great Books of the Freedom Skool: http://youtu.be/7jD_v4ji1kU This is the Freedom Skool's 2015 list of the 100 Greatest Works Humanity Has Ever Made in the order of most important to least. Books are too limiting in their scope for what ideas can cloud the brain, and folks from all over the world, yesterday, today, men, women, atheist, spiritual, white, black, straight, gay, transvestite, have all helped in the collaboration in the making of this list. Out of the great pool of ideas, the best ideas should prevail. Thus, the 100 greatest works ever are nothing more than the 100 greatest ideas ever constructed. For all intensive and respectful purposes, consider this my own personal 100 “great books” list. For all kinds of culture, things which please the eyes, su
