February 8 Work

“Walk tall, kick ass, learn to speak Arabic, love music and never forget you come from a long line of truth seekers, lovers and warriors.” ~Hunter S Thompson

You can't spell murder-suicide w/o U & I.

Today, I have successful survived 12,784 (plus 4) days on this planet Earth, while hurling thru space, make a blistering trip around the Sun at 67,000 miles an hour.

According to the Gregorian calendar, I was born on a Monday, February 8, 1982. But under the Julian calendar, this day would have been January 26, 1982 – which is also a Monday... so Feb 8... Jan 26... while they're 13 days away, either way, they're both still Mondays.

Brenda Spencer, elementary school girl from San Diego California, really hated Mondays too... good ol Brenda Spencer... what's she been up to these days?  [oh... really? for life? okay... well I guess Mondays hated her back]

I've seen a few grammys usually fall on my birthday, but most of the time, nothing happened, no historical event, no major political battle or war or manuever... well, there was one event, that happened on the exact day of Feb 8, 1982... the longest playing infield changed in MLB. 1982; "dodgers trade davey lopes to A's breaking up the longest playing infield" (Cey-Russell-Lopes-Garvey);

Mostly nothing historical happens on Feb 8, and if it does, it's a music festival... so not too shabby.
Plus a great spiritual philosopher-god of the Western World was born on that day.

Ronald Reagan had been President for 2 years now, Time cover said "unemployment the biggest worry". Americans were rocking out to "Centerfold" by J Geils Band music... "You're tearing me apart!" ~James Dean; Births: James Dean 1931 in Marion, Indiana; Rebel Without a Cause, East of Eden, and Giant; died 24 years of age; Rebel without a Cause was ok... Giant seemed ok, just 3 hours long... never saw "East of Eden".

SNL actress Cecily Strong ... hmmm... Cecily Strong & me have the same birthday, there's a conversation starter.

1865, Delaware rejects 13th Amendement, voting in favor of continuing slavery; Delaware... after fighting for the Union; wtf Delaware!?!

1600 Vatican convicts scholar Giordano Bruno to death; 1600 Vatican convicts scholar Giordano Bruno to death; burned to death in Rome by the Catholic Church. GB said that the stars were suns, only further away, and that they too could have planets with life circling around them just like our sun does; he also believed that the universe was infinite, and therefore, no celestial body could be at it's center; beginning in 1593, GB was tried for heresy... Roman Inquisition... denying core Catholic doctrines, eternal damnation, Trinity, divinity of Christ, virginity of Mary & transubstantiation.

On 20 January 1600, Pope Clement VIII declared Bruno a heretic and the Inquisition issued a sentence of death. According to the correspondence of Gaspar Schopp of Breslau, he is said to have made a threatening gesture towards his judges and to have replied: Maiori forsan cum timore sententiam in me fertis quam ego accipiam ("Perhaps you pronounce this sentence against me with greater fear than I receive it"). He was turned over to the secular authorities. On 17 February 1600, in the Campo de' Fiori (a central Roman market square), with his "tongue imprisoned because of his wicked words", he was burned at the stake. His ashes were thrown into the Tiber river. All of Bruno's works were placed on the Index Librorum Prohibitorum in 1603. Inquisition cardinals who judged Giordano Bruno were: Cardinal Bellarmino (Bellarmine), Cardinal Madruzzo (Madruzzi), Cardinal Camillo Borghese (later Pope Paul V), Domenico Cardinal Pinelli, Pompeio Cardinal Arrigoni, Cardinal Sfondrati, Pedro Cardinal De Deza Manuel, Cardinal Santorio (Archbishop of Santa Severina, Cardinal-Bishop of Palestrina).

The executioner fell to his knees and asked for her forgiveness. With composure and a smile on her face, she quietly forgave him and allowed her ladies-in-waiting to help her remove her articles of clothing and place a handkerchief over her eyes. As she lay her head on the block, she cried out In manus tuas, Domine multiple times. After two strokes of the executioner's axe, her head was severed from her body. Taking her head with his hand, the executioner lifted her head-dress off, revealing her once famously fair hair had turned grey. "God save Queen Elizabeth! May all the enemies of the true Evangel thus perish!" he cried out. According to record, Mary's lips quivered for several minutes after her decapitation. It was said that her beloved dog had been hiding underneath her clothes and faithfully stayed with her blood-soaked body.

Cow was my first word; I liked eating Cream of Wheat, which has the initials C.O.W... coincidence?

I was born on a Monday. On that previous Sunday night, Lucy had to split firewood to keep the house warm. She worked up to the day she gave birth to me.

Lucy & Kevin had been married for two years, and they found a nice quiet country house for them to begin to raise their family. As sharecroppers on Camp Ernst Road in Boone County, KY, they were able to find 100 acres from an old farmer. The 100 acres also had a brand new bilevel house built upon it. The house was "gorgeous", but because it existed down a mile long dirt driveway, the landlord had a difficult time finding tenants. It was $250/month, and it also had a tobacco quota on it, so tobacco could be raised on the land. At first, a tractor had to driven over the rocky terrain in order to get to the house. Eventually, Kevin would borrow a snow plow from Lucy's brothers, and scrapped the driveway flatter, which helped, somewhat. As long as you drove slow, you'd be okay.

Just after Midnight, Lucy woke up in the middle of the night to find out that her water broke. Kevin was downstairs, and he saw her water drip through the floor. He asked her what was going on. She said she was going into labor. They hopped into the old 4x4 brown pick-up truck, drove to the end of the mile long rocky dirt driveway, made a phone call from the neighbor's house (since they didn't have phone service), and then proceeded to drive to St. Elizabeth Hospital South in Covington, Ky.

Dave Kelley once told me that his children gave him so much happiness when they were children, that he could only hope to give that joy back to them when they were older. While I wrecked my mother's body, which I'm sorry about. Lucy gave birth to me naturally, no C-section, nor epidurals were given.

in labor for 12 hours; when the pain hit, i was pray Hail Mary & Our Father, make her brain focus on something else;

he didn't take the pregnancy classes so he couldn't be in the labor room... Lucy was squeezing his hand really tight... can u let go of my hand?

Books Read By Anne Frank

2 outta 5 Kyians can't read, according to a 1999 Paul Patton Task Force commission report. “44% of Kentuckians struggle with minimal literacy skills, and 37% of the Kentuckians age 25 and older do not have a high school diploma.” http://www.lrc.ky.gov/lrcpubs/rr296.pdf But hey, Kentucky, don't lose heart. Just look at the good side. If 44% of Kentuckians CAN'T read, then that means that 56% of Kentuckians CAN read, so let's look at the positive side. Here's Wendy, a Kentuckian, from Letcher County, who I met the other day:  Many Kentuckians, especially the backwards, racist, and illiterate, love to fuck up their words as bad as they possibly can. “Taters” isn't only stupid... it's childish. Plus, potatoes aren't that great. Potatoes were responsible for killing off a huge Irish population... sure it's one of the world's main basic food staples, but rice, pork, beef, wheat, sugar, etc., are so much more important, and more d...

100 Greatest Works Humanity Has Ever Made

A Great Books Canon “To ignore the leaps and bounds we've advanced in the fields of technology and science is to forever play patty-cake to the cavepeople of yesteryear.” Podcast Explanation for the first few Great Books of the Freedom Skool: http://youtu.be/7jD_v4ji1kU This is the Freedom Skool's 2015 list of the 100 Greatest Works Humanity Has Ever Made in the order of most important to least. Books are too limiting in their scope for what ideas can cloud the brain, and folks from all over the world, yesterday, today, men, women, atheist, spiritual, white, black, straight, gay, transvestite, have all helped in the collaboration in the making of this list. Out of the great pool of ideas, the best ideas should prevail. Thus, the 100 greatest works ever are nothing more than the 100 greatest ideas ever constructed. For all intensive and respectful purposes, consider this my own personal 100 “great books” list. For all kinds of culture, things which please the eyes, su...
