A Short Biography of Johnathan D. Masters


*Born at St. Elizabeth South in Covington, Kentucky, Kenton County. Lived in Boone County, Gallatin County, Mason County, Meade County, Breckinridge County, Campbell County, Fayette County, Jefferson County, and Madison County.

*Grew up on a vegetable and tobacco farm 15 miles out from Ghent, on the line of Carroll and Gallatin Counties.

*Mostly went to Gallatin County Schools (K-3; 8-12); for a few years, went to Crittenden Mt. Zion, Grant County Middle School, and a Sanford, Florida school for one year

*2000 - Graduated Valedictorian at Gallatin County High School

*Sold sweet corn out of the back of my truck; “Johnny's Sweet Corn”

*Went to Xavier University for a few years

*Had many dead-end working class jobs

*2008 - Worked for Working America, a community affiliate of the AFL-CIO

*Helped to raise funding for Cincinnati schools

*Campaign Coordinator for Kentucky on Ralph Nader's Presidential Campaign

*Worked as a Citizen Journalist, independently, and for Gcvideonews, a local rural news media

*2010 - Ran for State Representative for a now gerrymandered 61st district in Northern Kentucky; won 1,255 votes

*Worked on an initiative campaign to stop animal abuse on factory farms

*wrote for The Cardinal, a student newspaper at UofL
